Undergrounding Utilities
Seascape Undergrounding Project, February 2009
from Ellen Pirie, explaining the project, March 19, 2009:
"The Seacliff undergrounding project is being paid for by PG&E from a fund
that the State requires them to have. We've been talking about this project
since the Seacliff community organized and created the Seacliff Village
Plan. It started before I took office in 2001. The project calls for the
removal of 13 utility poles in "downtown" Seacliff. The preliminary cost
estimate in 2004 was $800,000. The cost may be higher now but we don't know
yet.
The undergrounding project is being coordinated with the sewer project that
is removing the sewer line from Potbelly and New Brighton Beaches and the
Seacliff streetscape project, since we don't want to repave the streets
until we're done digging them up."
